Oatmeal Soda Bread

Ingredients
- 175g wholemeal bread flour
- 50g plain flour
- 50g porridge oats
- 25g wheat germ
- 1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon caster sugar
- 1 free-range egg
- 275mls buttermilk
- Extra flour for dusting
Method
- Pre-heat the oven to 190°C/Gas Mark 5.
- Flour a Pyrex non-stick Baking tray.
- Place all the dry ingredients into a large Pyrex glass bowl and Mix to Combine.
- Beat together the egg and buttermilk and gradually add to the dry ingredients until a smooth but not sticky dough is formed.
- Shape into a round about 15 cm across and make a deep cut across it three times.
- Sprinkle with flour and bake in the oven for 50-60 minutes.
- Allow to Cool on a wire rack and eat right away.
