Apple Crumble

Ingredients
900g Bramley apples
50g soft brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground mixed spice
2 tablespoons of orange juice
For the crumble:
100g plain flour
75g wholemeal flour
75g butter
50g Demerara sugar
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas Mark 4
- Peel the apples, cut in half, Core and slice.
- Cook them in a saucepan with the orange juice, mixed spice and Brown sugar until soft.
- Pour the cooked apples into a 1 litre Pyrex glass pie dish and spread them out evenly.
- Next make the crumble: Stir the two kinds of flour together in a bowl. Cut the butter into small pieces and add it to the flour.
- Rub the butter into the flours with your fingertips. Carry on until you have an even, crumbly mixture, then Mix in the sugar.
- Spoon the crumble over the apples in the pie dish and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Serve hot with Cream or ice-cream.
